Aurora BayCare Medical Center is seeking a sixth full time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our successful team of six NNPs and five Neonatologists. The ideal candidate shares a strong team approach and believes in family centered care. This opportunity offers the full scope of direct patient care and neonatal medicine with an onsite delivery service and active transport program in an 18 bed, Level III NICU community hospital affiliated with UW Children’s Health. The facility supports state of the art care including HFOV and Nitric Oxide (no ECMO, elective surgery or cooling).

Job responsibilites include: Providing complex care coordination and advanced care (i.e. complex monitoring, therapies and high intensity medical and surgical interventions) to neonatal and high-risk infant patients with complex, acute, and critical health conditions in collaboration with or under the clinical supervision of a physician. Being responsible for the patient evaluation, interpretation, diagnosis, and prescribing of appropriate medical and therapeutic measures. Working autonomously as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists and social workers to diagnose and manage patient care. Acting as an expert resource to staff, leadership and physicians. Performing supplementary leadership and operational support for areas of responsibility.

Shifts are a variety of 8, 16 or 24 hours with a 24/7 in house Neonatologist. Daily case loads average 5 to 8. Teaching opportunities are available and valued. Ancillary services available include Pediatric nutritionist, occupational and speech therapists as well a dedicated social worker. As a tertiary OB center, the medical center also offers comprehensive perinatal services with a full-time maternal Fetal Medicine physician and an on-site Reproductive Endocrinology team.

The NICU at Aurora BayCare Medical Center continually measures well against national quality standards, has a culture of continuous quality improvement efforts, and is a member of the Vermont Oxford Network (VON).
