Geisinger is seeking an experienced Board-Certified Neonatologist to serve as Site Director of Neonatology at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic neonatologist to utilize superior leadership and interpersonal skills to recruit two additional neonatologists and one neonatal nurse practitioner to staff a regional referral center serving Northeast Pennsylvania. Qualified applicants are expected to have demonstrated superior clinical and leadership skills. Experience in hospital administration and quality improvement are desired. The Site Director will report to the Director of Newborn Services for Geisinger. An academic appointment is available through the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
Currently, the Geisinger Wyoming Valley NICU is a 12-bed, private-room level 2 unit located immediately adjacent to labor a delivery, built in 2011 to serve the citizens of Luzerne County, PA. The NICU receives 250 annual inborn admissions, participates in the Vermont-Oxford Network database, and serves as a training site for medical students from the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
The Site Director will be charged with developing the GWV NICU from its current level 2 capabilities, staffed by 2 neonatologists, into a level 3 NICU providing 24/7 delivery room and NICU coverage. The Site Director will be responsible for managing the physician group, collaborating with maternal fetal medicine, obstetrics, nursing and ancillary services. Ongoing outcomes assessment, maximizing patient satisfaction, and participation in system-wide NICU committees are expectations. The Site Director will maintain a close clinical and administrative relationship with Geisinger’s Director of Newborn Services.
