On behalf of Julio Licinio, MD, Senior Vice President Academic/Health Affairs & Executive Dean, SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Medicine, MillicanSolutions, a leader in academic pediatric executive search, is conducting a national search for the Chair, Department of Pediatrics and Executive Director, Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
The Chair, Department of Pediatrics will be the academic, clinical, and administrative leader of the Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Upstate Medical University and will also serve as Executive Director of the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The Chair has responsibility for building a nationally leading program in children’s health through the recruitment, retention and development of approximately 60 full-time faculty with primary appointments in the Department of Pediatrics. The Chair of Pediatrics will lead and direct programmatic, clinical, research and educational development within the Department.
One of the institution’s visions for the Department of Pediatrics is to have it grow into a nationally-leading comprehensive children’s clinical, research and training program. This Department should be a key area of strength for our university. The new Chair will be the leader and steward of this process of attaining national recognition as an innovative center of excellence in pediatrics, with regional, statewide and national impact. The chair will grow an externally funded research program within the full spectrum of translational science, from molecules to healthcare and populations. Experience in obtaining, growing and effectively managing a portfolio of NIH research grants and philanthropic research support is highly desirable.
