Director of Outreach Education, University of Illinois Perinatal Network

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Department of Pediatrics seeks full-time Director of Outreach Education for the Perinatal Network.

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for the conception and development of educational programs and their successful implementation in the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) Perinatal Program throughout the UIC Network of Hospitals. The candidate represents University of Illinois Perinatal Network at city, county and state meetings regarding perinatal health.

Job Responsibilities:

Identify, develop, implement and evaluate educational programs for health care professionals within the University of Illinois Network Hospitals in collaboration with Network Nursing Managers and with other Outreach Educators in the state.

Monitor compliance with, develop, implement, and evaluate standards of care, policies and procedures in the management of high risk women and/or infants within the University of Illinois and Network Hospitals.

Consult and train Network Nursing Managers and staff on patient care issues in accordance with programs developed within the network or required by Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Establish, evaluate and prepare reports on outreach program objectives in the Perinatal Grant.

?\Perform needs assessment and identify and establish goals related to nursing practice in collaboration with Nursing Managers.

?onitor clinical activities and develop training/consultation for improvement of the perinatal system at the University of Illinois Medical Center which includes quality improvement/assurance projects, assistance in maintaining monthly perinatal transport statistics, and assistance with transport feedback mechanisms to referring hospitals.

Develop and present publications and presentations regarding advances in education, practice and management of Perinatal Networks for submission to local, state and national organizations.

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Job Knowledge & Skills, Education, Experience:

Masters degree in Nursing required.

Minimum of five years of experience in perinatal nursing with emphasis on course development and teaching/training required.

Knowledge of grant process, federal and local regulations, and medical quality standards strongly preferred.

Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and management skills required.

?WHONN Fetal Monitor Instructor

ACLS Instructor

Working Conditions:

General office environment. Regular travel to perinatal network sites around Chicago metropolitan area is expected, and may occur around previously scheduled events. Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity and fingering for working with computer key boards. Requires working with perinatal simulation models, which can weigh over 20lbs, providing demonstrations, and conducting training.
