On behalf of Robert Hromas, MD, Dean, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio, MillicanSolutions, a leader in academic pediatric executive search, is conducting a national search for the Chair, Department of Pediatrics at UT Health San Antonio.
The Chair, Department of Pediatrics will be the academic, clinical, and administrative leader of the Department of Pediatrics at UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine. The Chair has responsibility for building a nationally leading program in childrenís health through the recruitment, retention and development to the current 106 full-time faculty (84 physicians and 22 advanced practice providers) with primary appointments in the Department of Pediatrics. The Chair of Pediatrics will lead and direct programmatic, clinical, research and educational development within the Department.
The Chair, Pediatrics has responsibility for aiding with the recruitment, retention and development of pediatric faculty with primary appointments in the Department of Pediatrics and in other departments that provide child health services. This includes but is not limited to pediatric surgery, pediatric orthopedic surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, congenital heart surgery and pediatric ophthalmology. The Chair is also responsible for providing effective mentoring, educational opportunities and professional development for all faculty within the Department.
One of the institutionís visions for the Department of Pediatrics is to have it grow into a nationally-leading comprehensive childrenís clinical, research and training program. The Chair will work to enhance the research profile of the Department. This occurs in the course of faculty development and through the efforts of future recruitment of academic faculty. It is assumed that the Chair would have his/her own clinical and research interests. In addition, the Chair has ultimate responsibility for the organization, assessment, and accreditation of pediatric medical student clerkship and electives and a pediatric residency with 40 total residents.
