In addition to clinical duties, candidates are expected to teach Medical Students and Pediatric trainees including fellows. Candidates will be part of the Loyola faculty with strong support of specialists and subspecialists, and a team approach to management of complex patients. The faculty will also be covering MacNeal Hospital, a Level 2 Nursery that has recently joined Loyola Medicine. An Illinois medical license is required at time of appointment.
Based in the western suburbs of Chicago, Loyola University Health System is a quaternary care system with a 61 acre main medical center campus and 22 primary and specialty care facilities in Cook, Will and DuPage counties. The medical center campus is conveniently located in Maywood, 13 miles west of the Chicago Loop. Loyola University Hospital is a 570 licensed bed facility currently undergoing a significant expansion. Loyola houses a Level 1 Trauma Center, a Burn Center, Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital, Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, Loyola Outpatient Center, Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine and Loyola Oral Health Center. LUC Stritch School of Medicine and the LUC Niehoff School of Nursing are located on the same campus, as is the Loyola Center for Health & Fitness.
Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital is a 125-bed tertiary care pediatric “hospital within a hospital” which consists of 50 neonatal intensive care beds, 25 newborn bassinets, 14 pediatric intensive care beds, 36 general inpatient and intermediate-care beds, providing care to a large multicultural population. The Department of Pediatrics is comprised of approximately 90 full time faculty members devoted to the care of children and adolescents from birth to 21 years of age. Our faculty include pediatric medical and surgical specialists as well as community based primary care physicians. Nursing care is delivered by a staff certified Magnet status since 2008, in a patient-centered environment. The residency training program consists of 30 categorical pediatric and 16 medicine-pediatrics resident trainees.
